Aleksandar Milosavljevic, PhD., is an Associate Professor of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Prof. Milosavljevic directs the Bioinformatics Research Laboratory (BRL, http://www.brl.bcm.tmc.edu - link will open in a new window) at BCM. BRL is affiliated with the Human Genome Sequencing Center at BCM and focuses on high-throughput informatics, translational study of genome variation, and cancer genomics. Genboree discovery system developed at BRL is playing a key role in a pilot stage for the TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) project. Pash program developed at BRL performs fast and accurate processing of next-generation sequencing information in support of genomic and epigenomic discovery processes. BRL is one of eight recipients of TCGA pilot project technology development grants aimed at developing fast and economical high-resolution methods for comprehensive mapping of chromosomal aberrations in cancer genomes.
